Ride for Dad May 29,2011 Windsor Ontario.
The 2011 edition of the annual Ride For Dad on Sunday May 29th Ride for Dad Windsor Ontario Canada 2011was blessed with great weather and wonderful attendance.
Riders started lining up as early as 7am at the WFCU Center to get a spot and it didn't take long for others to follow. By the time they started their engines, which is an event in itself, there were well over 1,000 bikes ready to move.
They received a police escort to the city limits and from there the ride took them through Essex County with a few stops along the way. It ended at the Ciociaro Club where they enjoyed a luncheon and live music. Storms forecasted for that day waited until later in the evening.
The event is hosted to raise money for prostate cancer research and last year's total was $77,000 but this year was even better. Over $100,000 was raised in Windsor alone even though there were less bikes registered.
Congratulations to all the riders for raising such an impressive amount for research.
Note: This video shows all the bikes exiting the WFCU lot which took a bit of time to empty. In order to keep it to a comfortable viewing time the speed was increased a bit. The actual departure was organized to be slow and methodical to keep everyone safe
